The Last Great Race

AH... Yes.... The Last Great Race. The Iditarod.

Where man and dog both from all parts of the world challenge "Mother Nature" in a 1100 mile race across frozen wilderness.

Now some are still not happy, calling them "Dog Killer's", but for others it's a way to remember the ones who had to travel this harsh and unforgiving land in the 20's who brought food and medicine to the villages. Click here to find out more.
There was a Iditarod banquet, where the mushers pick there positions from a old boot and get to see the truck they have a chance to win.

Lets Rondy

Hello -
Well it's Fur Rondy time again. This is an event for the people to get out and have some serious fun. With snow sculptures to dog sled racing. There is sure to be something for any age.
If you want to check the history out on this event click here it tells the whole story.

We have a great hockey team called The Alaska Aces. They brought home the Kelly Cup in the 05-06 season. With a new coach these guys are still working out a few kinks.
There is two new arena football team that just got started, There called the Alaska Wild, who started in 2007 and The Fairbanks Grizzlies who get started this year. It's still to new to say if this will take off. I hope it sticks around.

First Blog

Hello to All -
This is a new blog about Alaska and the different types of wild and crazy things.
Alaska is not just snow and ice, we have a pretty different yet humble type of people and animals here.
First of all I must give a "High Five" to Bob and Mark and a "AWSOME" job to all the ones involved in this event at Fur Rondy of the first ever "Running of the Reindeer".
It was a blast! We hope to have this next year also.
If you have not seen nor heard of this you can check it out here.
Living in Alaska is great, born and breed here yet HATE the cold. Go figure. It must be the scinic views and the big fish. If you were to visit here you would know what I mean.
